Morrisey names Wolfinbarger new PEIA director

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Governor Patrick Morrisey has made his pick as the new director of the Public Employees Insurance Agency (PEIA).

Brent Wolfingbarger was announced as the selection Friday evening.

Wolfinbarger most recently served as a Senior Deputy Attorney General of West Virginia. He had been in that role since 2020 and helped lead the state’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit.

Morrisey, in a statement, said that Wolfinbarger is no stranger to the Mountain State.

“With an impressive professional background and deep experience working in West Virginia, I have every confidence in Brent Wolfingbarger to lead PEIA and tackle the challenges currently facing the agency,” Morrisey said.

Wolfinbarger is a DuPont High School and West Virginia University graduate. He has practiced law in West Virginia for over 30 years.
