Stevenson announced to Best Virginia’s roster for 2025 TBT

After a one-year hiatus from Best Virginia, former West Virginia guard Erik Stevenson will return to play for the WVU alumni team in the 2025 version of The Basketball Tournament (TBT).

The 6-foot-4 Stevenson was announced Tuesday as the team’s latest roster addition and joins his former Mountaineer teammate and guard Kedrian Johnson as Best Virginia’s first two player commitments.

In 2023, Stevenson made his TBT debut and averaged 12.5 points and seven rebounds in Best Virginia’s two games, while providing the winning basket in the team’s opening-round contest that year.

Stevenson played at four schools over five seasons of college basketball, culminating his career with a campaign at West Virginia in which he averaged a team-best 15.4 points in 2022-23. Stevenson made 78-of-206 three-pointers in a WVU uniform and 270 triples throughout college, which he finished with a scoring average of 10.7 points.

Since concluding his college career, Stevenson has played for the Austin Spurs, Texas Legends and Capital City Go-Go in the NBA G League. He was called up to the Washington Wizards in February of the most recent season for a brief stint before returning to the G League.

Best Virginia is host team of a TBT regional slated to be held at the Charleston Coliseum from July 18-22.

The winner of the West Virginia Regional will advance to TBT’s quarterfinals on July 29, with the semifinals set for July 31 and $1 million championship to be played August 3.

For the first time, TBT is giving each host team the opportunity to have home court advantage for the quarterfinals, semifinals and the title game. Should two regional hosts face off, the tiebreaker will be determined by which host sells 4,000 tickets the fastest.

Best Virginia is 8-5 all time in TBT play.
