BELVA, W.Va. — Three people in Nicholas County are charged with child neglect as a result of a shooting investigation.

Bobby J. Moore, 28, Caroline A. Stewart, 32, and Connie S. Moore, 58, were all arrested Thursday and charged with felony child neglect.
According to the Nicholas County Sheriff’s Office, an investigation began after deputies responded to a shooting in the 22000 block of Old Turnpike Road in the Belva area.

A release from the sheriff’s office says that Darrell Adam Moore, of Belva, suffered a gunshot wound near his residence. Police discovered Moore near Lively’s Diner. Moore was treated at the scene and then transported to a Charleston hospital.
No details regarding who shot Moore was provided.
During the investigation at the home, deputies discovered what was described as “unlivable” conditions for children, which prompted the arrests of the trio.

No details regarding how many children were living in the residence was made available.
All three are being held at the Central Regional Jail on $10,000 surety/cash bails.
An investigation is ongoing.
