McCauley sentenced to 10 years in prison in federal child porn case

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — A former Buckhannon elected official will spend 10 years in federal prison in a child pornography case.

David McCauley

Former Buckhannon mayor and city councilman David McCauley, 66, entered a guilty plea to one count of production of child pornography in December.

Court documents show McCauley enticed a 17-year-old boy to engage in sexually explicit conduct for photo and video purposes.

The investigation included the forensic analysis of several electronic devices that uncovered illegal images and videos during a September 2022 search of his home.

McCauley has been in federal custody since his indictment in October of 2024 and will serve 10 years of supervised release following his prison sentence.

The FBI and Upshur County Sheriff’s Department conducted the investigation.
