CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The state Public Service Commission has ordered garbage pick-up utility Waste Management to do a better job.
In a 9-page order filed Friday, the PSC said, among things, Waste Management must set up a 1-800 call-in system where customers with problems can talk with a real person, The PSC also addressed credits for pick-ups that are missed by the company.
Waste Management must “prorate credits to any customer who was missed more than 12 days of service. The company must report information about those customers to the PSC.
The company must work with the Commission staff to develop a contingency pickup plan if it misses a route and will not attempt a pickup before the next scheduled service,” a PSC news release said.
The order addresses other areas of customer service including the submission of a plan on how the interruption of service will be handled.
Waste Management is the largest garbage hauler in the state.
The PSC investigation began after complaints from the Cross Lanes area.
