West Virginia had five players chosen in the 2025 Major League Baseball Draft earlier this week.
The Mountaineers now have two players that have inked deals as undrafted free agents with MLB clubs as junior Sam White has signed with the Toronto Blue Jays.

A three-year regular in the West Virginia lineup, White is a native of Aurora, Ontario, Canada — less than 1 hour from Toronto.
In 161 career games and 148 starts at WVU, White finished with a .310 batting average, 19 home runs, 33 doubles and 111 RBI.
As a junior, White led the Mountaineers with a .361 batting average and belted five home runs with 17 doubles while driving in 46 despite battling injuries that largely regulated him to designated hitter duties.
Having played catcher throughout his high school career, White was occasionally behind the dish in college, but mostly played third base when he wasn’t a DH. He recorded 213 putouts in 2024 and 25 in the most recent season.
White had some of his top hitting performances at the end of his junior season and finished 9-for-21 with five RBI, seven runs, two doubles and a home run over five NCAA Tournament contests. He registered multiple hits in three postseason games.
Catcher Logan Sauve was the first of five Mountaineers picked in the draft as a seventh-round selection of the Athletics. Kyle West and Skylar King were WVU’s two other position players picked, while pitchers Griffin Kirn and Robby Porco were also drafted.
Following the draft, senior pitcher Jack Kartsonas became WVU’s first player to ink an undrafted free agent deal when he signed with the Tampa Bay Rays.
