Third arrest made in Huntington beating that included video posting

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Police say a third arrest has been in connection with the recorded beating of a 22-year-old man last week near Ritter Park in Huntington.

Matthew Diamond (HPD)

Matthew Diamond, 20, of South Shore, Kentucky, has been charged with conspiracy to commit a felony. It’s alleged Diamond is the one who recorded the beating and posted it on social media, Huntington police said.

The beating victim is out of the hospital and staying with a friend.

Police previously charged James Clapper 21, of Flatwoods, Kentucky, and Brock Mazdra, 18, of Huntington, with malicious assault.

All three defendants are being held in Kentucky jails and awaiting extradition to West Virginia.
