KEYSER, W.Va. — Officials in Mineral County gathered Friday afternoon to celebrate a new judicial annex building.
The project expands the sheriff’s office on the second floor, makes way for more space for the circuit court and county administration offices, and renovates the annex space.
Governor Patrick Morrisey was on hand for the special ceremony Friday. He says Mineral County is a special place, and these upgrades were needed.
“I get especially happy to make sure that we’re investing back into communities that really have a rich history and want to fuse the old with the new,” Morrisey said.
The judicial annex is now fully ADA-accessible with a new elevator and proper ramps.
“With the addition of the new elevator, all citizens are going to be able to take advantage of all the business they need to do with ease and pride,” Morrisey said.
The Mineral County Commission applied for funding for the judicial annex back in 2021, and Friday was a large milestone for the current and past commissioners that have been anxiously waiting for this day.
“I think there are great things in store for Mineral County,” Morrisey said. “You’ve got a great commission, and we’ve been working together on a number of issues.” Morrisey said.
