MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The WVU women’s soccer team completed a winning weekend at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium by defeating Arizona State, 2-0 Sunday afternoon. West Virginia blanked Arizona, 3-0 on Thursday.

With the win, the Mountaineers (8-2-2, 3-0-2 Big 12) are unbeaten in their last nine matches.

Maddie Levy tallied her fifth goal of the season in the 27th minute to open the scoring for West Virginia. Sophia Nickel completed the scoring with 66 seconds left in regulation. West Virginia outshot ASU, 14-6.

“We wanted to rotate the ball and move the opposition,” said WVU head coach Nikki Izzo-Brown. “We wanted to make sure we were finding the right moments to penetrate. I thought the tempo of the game and the decision making in the game, the majority of the time was very good.

“Huge points with RPI. This team is going to win a lot more games and I am just so proud that we were able to finish a Sunday. We haven’t really been able to finish a Sunday yet and we slayed Sunday. That was kind of the message.”

West Virginia completes their three-game homestand Friday against Houston.
