Fire levels Greenbrier County poultry barn

RONCEVERTE, W.Va. — A Greenbrier County poultry barn is in ashes after a massive fire.

The blaze was reported around 10 p.m. Friday, but Ronceverte Fire Department Chief Mike Campbell said by the time his crews arrived the entire building was fully engulfed and the building was a total loss. Firemen set up in a defensive posture to protect three other barns located in close proximity to the one on fire.

The barns are owned by Greenbrier County based Aviagen Turkeys. It’s unclear if there were any turkeys in the barn when the fire started. Campbell had no comment and when contacted by MetroNews Aviagen also had no comment on the fire.

The West Virginia State Fire Marshal had an investigator on the scene on Saturday, but so far no cause has been determined. Nobody was hurt in the fire.
