Greenbrier County man arrested for drug distribution

LEWISBURG, W.Va. — Members of the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Department Street Crimes unit arrested a Renick man and confiscated multiple drugs at his home.

Greenbrier County Sheriff Bart Baker said an investigation led them to the home of Obie Bennett of Renick, W.Va. A search warrant executed there turned up a large haul of illegal drugs and stolen goods from the Greenbrier County area. Sheriff Baker said his team seized 17 grams of methamphetamine, five grams of fentanyl, 20 grams of marijuana, and 40 grams of another substance suspected to be fentanyl. A considerable amount of drug paraphernalia was also confiscated at the home including multiple digital scales.

Bennett is charged with three counts of possession with intent to deliver narcotics, two counts of delivery of methamphetamine, and a charge of being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm.

Deputies discovered several individuals living in the home. Two of them claimed Bennett had given them meth in exchange for work tasks around the house.

Bennett is lodged in the Southern Regional Jail.
