BERKELEY COUNTY, W.Va. — A Berkeley County man is facing charges after a young boy died from a gunshot wound.
According to a release from the Berkeley County Sherrif’s Office, deputies responded to a call of a reported shooting on Needmore Road at around 7:30 p.m. last Friday.
Upon arrival, the deputies located a two-year-old boy suffering from a gunshot wound. Deputies and crews attempted to save the child, but he later died from his injuries.
After investigators arrived at the scene, Zachary Allen O’Sullivan, 29, of Martinsburg, was placed under arrest.
O’Sullivan was charged with child neglect resulting in death and was later released on a $25,000 bond.
The release did not indicate if O’Sullivan was the child’s father or not.
Police continue their investigation.
