MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Access to the Coopers Rock overlook located at Coopers Rock State Forest near Morgantown will be closed until next summer while repairs are being made, according to West Virginia State Parks.
During the closure crews will be replacing the pedestrian bridge connecting the overlook to the main area of the forest.
“Ensuring the safety of our guests is our top priority,” West Virginia State Parks acting chief Dillard Price said. “This new bridge will provide a safer and more enjoyable way for visitors to experience one of West Virginia’s most iconic overlooks.”
The main portion of the state forest will remain open during construction and visitors are still welcome to take advantage of the other amenities.
The overlook is expected to reopen next July.
