PARKERSBURG, W.Va. — Two teenagers continue to fight for life in a Parkersburg hospital after they were shot while sitting in a car.
Parkersburg Police have charged Butch Knight, 18, with three counts of attempted murder after the incident at the city’s Southwood Park basketball courts Monday afternoon.
“I can confirm they do know each other. There was a brief encounter before the gunfire started,” said Chief of Police Matthew Board.
The victims, Devon Forshey and Bradi Florence, both age 18, were taken to Camden Clark Medical Center where they continue their recovery.
“They’re still hospitalized locally here in Parkersburg, one of the victims is injured significantly worse than the other,” said the Chief.
A third individual was also in the car, but was not struck by any of the gunfire. Board said they have not determined exactly how many shots were fired in the incident.
“It was in the area of six to eight at a minimum, so quite a few,” he said.
Board also couldn’t say if drugs were related or even speculate on what started the confrontation.
Knight is jailed in lieu of $900,000 bond.
