MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The president of a Morgantown development group says ongoing Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings will not interrupt infrastructure projects in the area.
WestRidge President Ryan Lynch has confirmed the company will continue to make payments as part of three-way agreements with the Monongalia County Commission and the Morgantown Utility Board regarding the water and sewer improvement project that’s part of the Chaplin Hill Gateway Project.
Lynch said payments for the water and sewer improvement work done by MUB due in August in the amount of $800,000 were made in late August.
A payment of $1 million will be made this week to MUB for all other amounts currently due bringing their total payment amount to the utility to $2.5 million to date.
WestRidge has money set aside to pay for its portion of the Gateway Project under the terms of and MOU with the county commission and state DOH, according to Lynch.
WestRidge will continue the coordination process with MUB and the commission to maintain proper funding levels for current and future projects. Lynch said weekly coordination meetings with the DOH will also continue. The first design contract is expected to be done by September 2026.
Lynch said WestRidge is committed to completing the public infrastructure projects and meeting its responsibilities as the private partner.
The company is expected to complete the bankruptcy process early next year.
WestRidge filed for bankruptcy in August.
