MARLINTON, W.Va. — A man who shot and killed his 21-year-old ex-girlfriend in a convenience store parking lot in Pocahontas County in February 2024 has pleaded guilty and been sentenced in the case.

Mason Walker, 25, of Hillsboro, pleaded guilty this week to first degree murder with mercy in the death of Camie Rider.
Rider was shot and killed in the parking lot of the Little General Store in Marlinton.
Walker was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole in 15 years.
Family members previously told MetroNews that Rider grew up in Marlinton and worked at Snowshoe Mountain Resort. She and Walker had a son together.

“She was constantly looking out for people. She lit up anytime she talked about her boy, her family and friends. She was a true friend to anyone that she met,” a family member said.
The special prosecutor in the case was Raleigh County Assistant Prosecutor Morgan Spolarich.
“It is my sincere hope that this conviction will bring some semblance of comfort to Cami’s family,” Spolarich said.
