Three mobile homes destroyed in Christmas Eve fire

MOUNDSVILLE, W.Va. — The Moundsville Volunteer Department says it had issues with fire hydrants when it responded to a late night fire on Christmas Eve.

A department Facebook post said three mobile homes were on fire when crews arrived shortly after 11 p.m. at George’s Court near Middle Grave Creek outside of Moundsville.

“Units used aggressive interior attack and defensive attack,” the post said. “Tanker task force was activated due to issues with nearby fire hydrants.”

A number of other volunteer fire crews from Marshall and Ohio counties and Belmont County, Ohio were called to the scene to assist including Roberts Ridge, Fork Ridge, Limestone, Glen Dale, Sunset Heights and McMechen.

There were no injuries reported.

An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.
