Fayette County authorities investigate Christmas Eve crash

FAYETTE COUNTY, W.Va. –The Fayette County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a crash that occurred on Christmas Eve.

According to a release from the Fayette County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, a driver lost control while they were traveling on Gatewood Road, outside of Oak Hill. The vehicle left the roadway, struck a utility pole, and then ended up striking a residence causing significant damage.

The driver of the vehicle suffered serious injuries, after being ejected from the vehicle, which resulted in them immediately being transported from the scene for treatment.

The release, stated that because the driver had to be transported immediately, the investigation has moved slowly. The investigating officer was not able to evaluate the driver or conduct a complete investigation at the scene.

Once the investigation is complete, a full police report will be prepared and reviewed, and authorities will decide whether to file any criminal charges against the driver.
