As teams work to reshuffle rosters while the transfer portal is open through January 16, West Virginia is doing the same.
The Mountaineers received commitments Monday from a trio of power conference transfers — Oklahoma’s Michael Hawkins (quarterback) and Maliek Hawkins (defensive back) and Wisconsin defensive back Geimere Latimer.
Michael Hawkins played sparingly for the Sooners in 2025 while redshirting, completing 15-of-27 passes for 167 yards with three touchdowns, nearly all of which he accumulated against Kent State.
A year earlier, as a true freshman, Hawkins played more extensively and in seven games, four of which he started. That year, he was 76-for-120 with 783 yards, three touchdowns and a pair of interceptions.
Over the last two seasons, the 6-foot-1, 206-pound Hawkins rushed for 262 yards and two scores on 84 attempts.
He has three seasons of eligibility remaining.
Younger brother Maliek Hawkins, a 6-foot, 189-pound cornerback, took a redshirt in 2025 while appearing in one contest as a true freshman.
Keeping up with the family affair theme, Latimer committed to WVU and will be teammates with younger brother Amari Latimer, a running back who flipped his commitment from Wisconsin and signed with the Mountaineers last month.
Geimere Latimer played for the Badgers in 2025 and Jacksonville State the prior two seasons, giving him two years of experience with Mountaineer head coach Rich Rodriguez and one with defensive coordinator Zac Alley.
At Wisconsin, Latimer was primarily a nick corner and recorded 23 tackles and a forced fumble.
When with the Gamecocks in 2024, Latimer finished with 46 tackles and three interceptions. In 2023, he had 10 tackles, one interception and a forced fumble.
The 5-10, 191 pound Latimer has one year of eligibility left.
WVU received earlier commitments from USC wide receiver Prince Strachan, UNLV linebacker Isaiah Patterson and defensive lineman Will LeBlanc from Texas-Permian Basin.
