MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Cam Cook will likely end the 2025 season as the NCAA rushing yards leader and he is now bound for Morgantown. The Jacksonville State running back has committed to play for West Virginia. Cook made the announcement on social media Tuesday afternoon.

Cook rushed for 1,659 yards in 13 games as a junior. His 295 carries tied for second-most in Division I. His 16 rushing touchdowns are tied for sixth-best in the nation. Cook rushed for at least 75 yards in each game and he racked up nine 100-yard games. He scored at least one touchdown in each of JSU’s final ten games this season.
Cook was named the Conference USA Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year. He rushed for at least 100 yards and scored at least one touchdown in each CUSA regular season contest. Cook also caught 30 passes for 286 yards.
Prior to arriving at Jacksonville State, Cook played for two seasons at TCU. He saw minimal action in 2023, but he rushed for 460 yards and nine touchdowns as a sophomore. Cook is a native of Round Rock, Texas.
Cook’s arrival in Morgantown follows the departures of leading rusher Diore Hubbard, Cyncir Bowers, Tye Edwards and Jahiem White. Cook has one season of eligibility remaining.
