MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — A Maryland man who allegedly stabbed his sister to death at a Morgantown motel while staying as resident a local homeless shelter has waived his right to a preliminary hearing.

Karol Crosco, 51, of Garrett County, Maryland, waived his right to a preliminary hearing in Monongalia County Magistrate Court on Thursday to face charges of first-degree murder and grand larceny.
The case now heads to a grand jury for consideration.
According to a criminal complaint, Crosco, who was a resident of Hazel’s House of Hope at the time, allegedly purchased a knife used in the stabbing the day before it took place for the intention “to specifically use it on his sister.”
Crosco then allegedly stole a vehicle from the Grafton Road Sheetz after leaving the shelter on January 4, when he eventually traveled to the Morgantown Motel and stabbed his sister multiple times before leaving the scene.
Monongalia County Sheriff’s Deputies arrived at the motel at around 11:21 p.m. where Crosco’s sister was identified as the stabbing victim. She later identified Crosco as her attacker before she was taken to Ruby Memorial Hospital and later died from her injuries.
Crosco and the stolen vehicle was found by police on River Road shortly after he was identified as the attacker. Officers reported that Crosco appeared to have blood on his clothing and on his hands at the time he was arrested.
Crosco is being held without bail in the North Central Regional Jail.
