Wounded West Virginia National Guard member shares first post since D.C. shooting

West Virginia National Guard Staff Sgt. Andrew Wolfe shared his first Facebook post two months after being shot in Washington, D.C., in November 2025.

Wolfe said in the post, “I’m grateful to be alive. Thank you for your prayers and support. It’s been overwhelming, and I’m still trying and determined. It’s been hard to go through something like this. Thank you for everything.”

Wolfe has been at an inpatient rehabilitation facility since early December. He and fellow Guard member Specialist Sarah Beckstrom were shot while patrolling the streets of Washington, D.C., the day before Thanksgiving. Beckstrom died on Thanksgiving Day.

Berkeley County Sheriff Rob Blair shared the post on Facebook, writing, “God is good… Miracles still exist.”
