Troubled Fayette County PSD needs immediate help

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The West Virginia Public Service Commission has received an emergency petition from the Page-Kincaid Public Service District for approval of an Interim Emergency Operations and Maintenance agreement between them and West Virginia American Water Company in Fayette County.

The PSC is already reviewing a purchase agreement struck between West Virginia American, Page-Kincaid PSD, Armstrong PSD, and Kanawha Falls PSD from last year. The approval on those agreements is still pending before the commission. The petition filed Thursday indicated an operational and financial hardship makes it impossible for the Page-Kincaid PSD to make insurance payments. The petition suggests circumstances facing the PSD require immediate assistance.

West Virginia American Water indicated it intends to begin assisting the Page-Kincaid PSD immediately.

The Page-Kincaid PSD provides wastewater service to approximately 752 customers in Fayette County.
