HUNTINGTON, W.Va. –Huntington Police Department has issued a public safety alert after fentanyl-laced tablets were found shaped as cartoon characters.
A release from HPD said there was more than 900-multi-colored tables seized. The pills were molded to resemble an emblem from the Transformers series and were about the size of a child’s vitamin.
Field tests showed that the pills contained fentanyl and MDMA, or ecstasy or molly, which is a highly potent and potentially lethal synthetic opioid.
Officials encourage anyone with information regarding the distribution of illegal substances, drug activity, or other criminal behavior to contact them at:
-Emergencies/crimes in progress: Call 911

While no pills were discovered near Cabell County Schools, officials released a thank you to HPD for alerting them.
“The safety of our students, staff, and schools is our highest priority. We appreciate Huntington Police Department’s vigilance in getting these pills out of our community and their partnership in sharing this important information with us. Please take to your children about the danger of taking any medications or vitamins not provided by a trusted adult or medical professional as well as the risk of ingesting unknown, harmful substances disguised as candy or vitamins. Thank you for helping spread awareness of this threat in our community,” Director of Health, Wellness, and Student support for CCS Keith Thomas said.
