MONONGALIA COUNTY, W.Va. – A Monongalia County car crash that left a juvenile dead is under investigation.
The single-vehicle accident occurred around 4:30 a.m. Sunday on I-79 southbound near mile marker 143. Witnesses told officials the vehicle lost control and veered off the roadway before becoming airborne and striking a tree on a hillside next to the highway.
The driver, identified as a juvenile from Harrison County, was pronounced dead at the scene. Their name is being withheld at this time, and there was no one else in the car.
