Cybersecurity conference underway in Huntington brings industry leaders together

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. –A three-day cybersecurity conference, bringing together leaders, professionals, students and public sector partners, is underway in Huntington.

The MU CyberCon 2026, which is hosted the Marshall University Institute of Cybersecurity, got underway Wednesday morning. The events theme this year is Mission Ready in a Converged World and it aims to bring people together to explore challenges and opportunities in today’s converged cyber environment.

The con features keynote speakers including Vice President and Executive Partner at Gartner Inc., John Baker, MU President Brad Smith, and more. It also has expert-led panels and networking opportunities.

During the conference, the different days will focus on different topics. Wednesday was IT/OT Convergence Day, Thursday will be OSINT/Cyber Forensics Day, and Friday is Cybersecurity Day.

“MU CyberCon brings together leaders from government, industry, and academia to address one of the most pressing challenges of our time, cybersecurity,” Executive Director of MU’s Institute of Cybersecurity Alexandria Donathan said. “Attendees leave with more than insights; they gain practical knowledge, new partnerships, and a deeper understanding of how to defend the systems that power our community and our national security.”

The conference will also include a student career fair, resume workshops, professional headshots and opportunities to connect with industry partners.
