Morgantown man arrested after courtroom attack

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — A 44-year-old Morgantown man has been arrested after a scuffle in a Monongalia County Magistrate Courtroom Thursday.

Brian Lamp (WVRJA)

Authorities said when Brian Lamp learned his personal recognizance bond was going to be revoked he became noncompliant and would not sit down when asked to. When deputies attempted to force him to sit he pushed one of the officers and was taken to the floor.

Investigators said as deputies removed Lamp from the courtroom, he threatened them and slammed his head into the elevator doors while trying to kick the officers.

Deputies said they also have video evidence of Lamp saying he would harm the officer when he was released.

Lamp has been charged with battery of a police officer and threats of terroristic acts.

Lamp is in jail on $40,000 bail.
