Randolph County driver charged in connection with fatal collision from last fall

ELKINS, W.Va. — State police have charged a Randolph County woman with vehicular homicide after a nearly six-month investigation.

Troopers arrested April Kenney, 43, of Mill Creek, this week after it’s alleged her vehicle struck and killed Amber Shreve, 38, of Beverly, in the early morning hours of Oct. 18, 2025 on Back Road in Mill Creek.

Investigators said Kennedy called Randolph County 911 that morning and said she had struck something. Shreve’s body was found a short time later.

Kennedy was arrested Wednesday and released after posting $5,000 cash bond. She awaits future court appearances.

State police said its crash reconstruction team has worked on the case.
