BERKELEY COUNTY, W.Va. –Four people are recovering after a single vehicle crash in Berkeley County Tuesday.
According to a West Virginia State Police release, the accident occurred around 8 p.m. in the 3400 block of Back Creek Valley Road.
Troopers were advised prior to arriving to the scene that three occupants were trapped inside the vehicle while one had been ejected.
The release said that when troopers arrived they observed a white Buick Verano that had traveled over an embankment and came to a rest in standing water off the roadway.
The driver was a 17-year-old male from Martinsburg. The passengers included Gracie Estes, 19, of Hedgesville, Nicholas Dillard, 18, also of Hedgesville, and Logan Darlington, 20, of Martinsburg.
The release said that Darlington was transported to Berkeley Medical Center for treatment. The other three occupants were airlifted to Inova Fairfax Hospital for treatment.
As of right now alcohol use is suspected to be a contributing factor in the incident but the investigation remains ongoing.
