Suspect wanted for 11 years by authorities in Wheeling is found in Ecuador

WHEELING, W.Va. –– An Ohio County man who has been on the run for 11 years is finally in custody over child pornography charges.

U.S. Marshals arrested David Buzzard, 76, of Wheeling. He was indicted in April of 2015 in U.S. District Court in the Northern District of West Virginia for the allegations. He had been missing ever since.  The FBI got a tip in 2018 about his whereabouts, living the nation of Ecuador. Turns out he’s been using a third-party business to receive, scan, and forward his mail to there.

Working with the Ecuadorian National Police the U.S. Embassy and the Ecuadorian migration officials to facilitate his deportation from Ecuador to the Untied States. Marshals arrested him when he arrived in Miami. He was arrested and is awaiting transport back to West Virginia to face the charges.
