ATLANTA, Ga. — A school in Putnam County will receive national recognition for excellence in a ceremony later this week.
The Putnam Career and Technical Center was selected by SkillsUSA, a workforce development organization for students, as one of 24 Models of Excellence chapters for 2026.
There are three different categories of skills in the Models of Excellence program: personal, workplace, and technical.
The PCTC is one of eight schools from all across the United States receiving distinction in the Personal Skills group.
All 24 Models of Excellence schools are being honored at the SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference (NSLC) in Atlanta this week, representing 17 different states.
The schools are going through interviews at the conference. Those interviews will be assessed by a panel of judges, and the top three schools will be selected.
Those top three schools will be named on Friday. SkillsUSA said those three schools will be featured in organization trainings and publications.
The Putnam Career and Technical Center is part of Putnam County Schools and has two campus sites: one in Eleanor and another in Buffalo. The PCTC says it offers 23 different programs to prepare students for careers, serving 400 people annually.
