Man arrested for sexual assault in Kanawha County

CHELYAN, W.Va. — A man was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman in Kanawha County.

The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Department said James Craig, Jr., 40, was brought into custody for a reported incident on Monday. Craig is accused of approaching two women in the Chelyan Post Office parking lot and following them home.

Authorities said the women told Craig to stop following them, but he refused. According to the sheriff’s department release, Craig pinned one of the women against a door, exposing his genitals, and then assaulted her with them.

Craig is charged with first-degree sexual assault.

Craig is being held in the South Central Regional Jail on $50,000 cash-only bail.
