Schedule set for official contesting of Harrison County House race election results

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — The Harrison County Commission has released the hearing schedule for the contest proceedings of the Republican House of Delegates District 71 election recount.

Laura Kimball

Tim McNeely was the presumed winner on election night by a six-vote margin 688 to 682 over incumbent Laura Kimball. Kimball requested a recount that was conducted May 28 that affirmed the six-vote win by McNeely.

Kimball then contested the recount, sending the matter back to the Harrison County Commission. She has claimed some non-registered Republicans were allowed to vote in the race in what was a closed primary.

The Harrison County Commission will consider witness and exhibit disclosures on June 26 at 3 p.m.

July 1 at 1 p.m. the commission will hold the prehearing and trial.

The commission will present their finding of fact July 6 at 3 p.m.

Commissioners will have two options at the conclusion of the hearing. Commissioners could order a new election to be held in the 14 precincts that make up District 71 or they could elect to deny the request.

All hearings are to be held in Harrison County Commission Chambers.
