PINEVILLE, W.Va. — The pilot of a small plane walked away from the wreckage of a plane crash in Wyoming County.
According to the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Department, the crash happened at Kee Field at the Wyoming County Airport on Sunday. Air Traffic Control in Indianapolis notified the Sheriff’s Department around 7:45 a.m. Sunday an aircraft was experiencing engine problems and was preparing to make an emergency landing at Kee Field.
According to the Sheriff’s Department the tower lost contact with the plane, but moments later was able to regain contact and the pilot indicated he’d made a crash landing.
The plane had crashed on the edge of the airport’s service road and struck a guardrail. The pilot was the only passenger and he was uninjured. Federal officials are now investigating the incident.
