Fairmont man arrested after attack on police

FAIRMONT, W.Va. — A Fairmont man faces multiple charges after police said he threw a window air conditioning unit at them.

Fairmont police were attempting to arrest Robert Smith, 36, when he fled into his home and into the attic.

Police said Smith threw a window air conditioning unit through the attic access almost hitting four of the officers.

Smith has been charged with four counts of attempted malicious assault and is being held in the North Central Regional Jail on a $30,000 bond.
