Southern W.Va. man arrested in UFC White House terror plot

WASHINGTON, D.C. — A Southern West Virginia resident has become the eighth individual arrested in connection with a plot against government officials during the recent UFC event at the White House.

The U.S. Department of Justice announced in a release Thursday Chandler D. Scaggs, 21, of Chapmanville, W.Va. was arrested for his role in the plot.

According to investigators Scaggs was allegedly to be one of the snipers in the planned June 14th attack on the UFC Freedom 250 event.

Scaggs allegedly indicated to the group that he was still willing to participate in the attack and “made new plans for another coconspirator to pick him up to travel to the UFC Freedom 250 event,” the U.S. Department of Justice said in a release.

Investigators allege the plan was to assasinate several high ranking government officials during the event, including President Donald Trump. Seven other suspects from all over the country have been arrested in the alleged plot and are being held in jail. Investigators built the case and scuttled the plot after discovering on-line chats among the participants.

Each of the eight suspects faces a charge conspiracy to provide material support to terrorists and conspiracy to commit murder.
