Marshall athletics announces enhancements to concession offerings

— By Bill Cornwell

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — The Marshall football team begins fall practice Wednesday.

Marshall Athletics is already in gameday mode and announced some fan-focused changes for concession offerings as well as experience at the team’s six home games this season.

Marshall has announced a season-long partnership with the Huntington restaurant Dough Daddy’s to serve as the official pizza provider of Marshall Athletics.

Dough Daddy’s will have exclusive concession stands on the east and west sides of Joan C. Edwards Stadium and will also serve its products at Marshall basketball games this season.

Earlier, Marshall announced a deal with Chick-Fil-A for exclusive selling spots on both sides of Edwards Stadium. Other additions for football season include expanded hot food options such as hamburgers and cheesesteaks, family-priced concessions at Stand 12 and unlimited refill souvenir cups.

“We’ve challenged ourselves to think differently about every aspect of the fan experience and continually raise the standard for our fans,” Marshall Vice President and Director of Athletics Gerald Harrison said. “Whether it’s introducing new food options, enhancing our facilities, creating exciting new traditions or partnering with outstanding local businesses like Dough Daddy’s, every decision is made with our fans in mind. We want every visit to Joan C. Edwards Stadium and the Cam Henderson Center to be an experience that families and Herd fans look forward to all year long.”

Along with offering its products at Marshall athletic events, Dough Daddy’s will be the presenting sponsor of the Dough Daddy’s Kids Zone at Joan C. Edwards Stadium and the Cam Henderson Center, the home of the Marshall basketball coaches radio shows featuring Juli Fulks and Cornelius Jackson, the presenting sponsor of the “Herd Wins, You Win” promotion which rewards fans following Marshall victories and on-field and on-court promotions featuring opportunities for fans to win free Dough Daddy’s pizza.

For a second straight year, Edwards Stadium will open on game days two hours prior to kickoff and will again feature a pregame Fan Fest with activities and food specials for all ages.

The traditional “Thunder Walk” heralding the arrival of the Marshall football team for all home games will take place 2 hours and 15 minutes prior to kickoff.
