Hiker injured in fall at Blackwater Falls State Park

DAVIS, W.Va. — A hiker is hospitalized after taking a spill at Blackwater Falls State Park.

Natural Resources Police say the victim fell about 20 feet over a cliff at the Pendleton Point overlook on Sunday afternoon. It’s unclear what caused him to lose his footing.

He suffered serious injuries, including a broken arm. Crews used a technical rope rescue to get him out of the area. He was flown to Morgantown’s Mon General Hospital for treatment and remains there today.

An investigation into the incident continues by the Natural Resources Police. The name of the victim was not released.
