Fiery crash claims life in Morgan County

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. — Morgan County authorities say a man died in a fiery vehicle crash on Martinsburg Road.

Deputies and fire fighters were dispatched to the site at the intersection with Moonlight Lane early Saturday morning.  A pickup truck at the location was fully engulfed in flames.

Firemen were able to get the fire under control quickly. Once the blaze was out, a body was discovered in the vehicle. The Sheriff’s Department indicated the victim appeared to be a 24-year old man. His family was notified, but his identity has to be confirmed by the state Medical Examiner.

Deputies say their preliminary investigation indicates speed was a contributing factor to the fatal crash. No other vehicles were involved.
