Second arrest made in Fairmont murder, investigation ongoing

FAIRMONT, W.Va. — A second arrest has been made in connection with an August murder in Fairmont.

Gabriella Kovar, 23, is charged with being an accessory after the fact of murder in the Aug. 16 death of Billy Wooten.

Brandon Vaughn, 34, of Detroit, was previously charged with first degree murder and is accused of shooting Wooten in the backyard of a home on McKinney Street.

Police said Kovar picked up Vaughn at the scene following the shooting.

On the morning of the killing, witnesses told police a man ran from the scene and jumped into a silver car that fled the area.

That vehicle was then involved in an accident on I-79 in Harrison County where Kovar was cited and Vaughn was arrested on a drug charge.

Vaughn and Kovar are being held in the North Central Regional Jail without bail.

Detectives with the Fairmont Police Department said the case is still open and information can be left confidentially by calling 304-366-2217.
