Three pedestrians struck and two killed in Logan County

LOGAN, W.Va. — Two people are dead and a third is hospitalized after being struck by a vehicle while walking along a Logan County highway.

State Police said the three pedestrians were walking along Route 44 in the White’s Addition community near the bridge around 8 p.m. Sunday. They were struck by an oncoming pickup truck.

All three were transported to Logan Regional Medical Center. Two of the victims died at the hospital of their injuries. Those victims were Clifford Chippent, 49, and Tabitha Chippent, 45, both of Lyburn. The third victim remains in the hospital being treated. State Police did not release the name of the third victim.
