BARBOURSVILLE, W.Va. — A Cabell County man is in custody after state police say he shot up his mother’s house and then set several fires on the property.
Joseph Daniels, 49, of Barboursville, is named in 30 separate criminal counts including 16 counts of wanton endangerment with a firearm, two counts of first-degree arson, three counts of third-degree arson and four counts of domestic assault.
Troopers said Daniels arrived at his mother’s home near Barboursville Tuesday, fired a gun several times, tried to force himself into the residence and then tried to set it on fire.
Daniels then went to an outbuilding and set it on fire, troopers said.
Troopers arrived and evacuated the family out of the house. The fires destroyed the residence, three vehicles and an outbuilding, state police said. There were no injuries.
Daniels was arrested Wednesday. He’s in the Western Regional Jail on $250,000 bail.
