A double homicide and an officer involved shooting in Marshall County

MOUNDSVILLE, W.Va. — The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department reports a double-homicide and a fatal officer involved shooting from early this morning near Moundsville.

Sheriff Mike Dougherty said in a press release his deputies were dispatched around 1:40 a.m. Thursday to a home on Middle Grave Creek Road. Authorities said the call came into the 911 center, but nobody was talking on the other end of the line.

Deputies responded to investigate and were met by a man with a handgun who fired on the responding deputy. The deputy on scene returned fire and fatally shot the individual.

When deputies entered the residence they found two dead bodies, believed to be victims of homicide.

The Marshall County Sheriff’s office and the West Virginia State Police are investigating the incident.
