MOUNDSVILLE, W.Va. — A Marshall County man was killed by sheriff’s deputies not long after authorities believe he killed a couple early Thursday morning.
Sheriff Michael Dougherty identified the suspect as Cyle Fabrizio, 25, of Moundsville.
Deputies were dispatched to a home on Middle Grave Creek Road in Marshall County around 1:45 a.m. Marshall County 911 received a call and there was no voice on the other end of the line. When deputies arrived on the scene where the call originated, they came under gunfire according to Dougherty. The deputies took cover and determined the gunfire was coming from the house where they observed Fabrizio holding a juvenile female with a gun to her head.
“He had her around the neck and was holding a pistol to her head. At that time my deputy armed with a rifle recognized the immediate danger the juvenile was in and he fired one round at Fabrizio to neutralize the suspect,” Dougherty said.
Once Fabrizio was down, the deputies moved into the house and got the female victim who was 16 and her 14 year old brother from inside the house and moved them to safety. They searched the house and found the parents of the two teenagers dead of gunshot wounds. Those victims were identified as David Will, 44, and his wife Monica Will, 46.
Dougherty said they were able to piece together what happened after assessing the evidence and talking to the two juveniles.
“The suspect had come onto the front porch of the residence and actually fired through the front window of the house. Those were the rounds that struck Mrs. Will. He then kicked in the door and we believe Mr. Will was standing very close to that door or near the bottom of the steps and he fired rounds at him as well,” said the Sheriff.
Dougherty said they were able to determine Fabrizio had a dispute with the Wills because they had forbidden he and their daughter to date. Investigators learned the juvenile girl and Fabrizio had met in church. The Sheriff’s Department believed the dispute over his desire to date the juvenile girl was the catalyst for the shootings.
“That is what we believe led Fabrizio to come to the residence and do what he did unfortunately,” he said.
