WVU issues campus warning after receiving hazing reports

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Officials with West Virginia University Police have issued a Campus Warning following anonymous reports of alleged hazing involving at least two on-campus fraternity sites.

The warning was issued on Tuesday after WVU Police received multiple reports, a news release said.

WVU officials issued the following statement:

“WVU has zero tolerance for hazing or any dangerous activities that threaten student safety or well-being. The University is committed to providing a safe environment for students, faculty, and staff. Because criminal investigations are active, the University cannot release additional information about the reports at this time.”

UPD officers are investigating the alleged incidents, anyone who has been a target of hazing or has information that may be helpful to investigators is asked to call 304-293-3136.

Information can also be shared via the WVU LiveSafe app.

Reports of hazing are now part of the Clery Act that reports crime on campus. The Stop Campus Hazing Act is an amendment to the Clery Act.
