Coal miner dies in Kanawha County

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A Kanawha County coal miner has been killed in an on the job accident.

Gov. Patrick Morrisey made the announcement Friday morning. He said Travis Price died in the incident at the American Eagle Mine in Kanawha County Thursday night.  The release gave no indication of how Price was killed.

According to the governor’s release, Price had worked in the coal industry for 24 years.

The state Office of Miners’ Health, Safety, and Training is investigating the accident along with investigators from the federal Mine Safety and Health Administration.

Morrisey offered condolences from he and first lady Denise Morrisey to Price’s loved ones and the entire mining community.
