WILKINSON, W.Va. — A Logan County man is in custody after he allegedly sexually assaulted a convenience store clerk and then resisted arrest.

Logan County sheriff’s deputies along with Logan and Chapmanville police officers responded to the Speedway in Wilkinson at just after 3 a.m. Saturday following the report of a sexual assault.
A woman working there told police a man had forced her into the restroom and sexually assaulted her. She said he had a machete and had suffered a self-inflicted wound to his arm that happened after the assault.
Deputies found Robert Clarke, 34, of Omar, in the restroom. They said he initially resisted arrest and brandished the machete but eventually complied with orders and was taken into custody.
The woman was taken to Cabell Huntington Hospital for treatment. Clarke was also treated for his machete wound but released Saturday evening. He’s being held in the Western Regional Jail.
