FEMA Disaster Recovery Center to open in Bridgeport Tuesday; open to all Harrison County residents affected by August flooding

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. — Flood recovery efforts in Harrison County will get a boost starting Tuesday.

A FEMA Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) will open starting at 12 p.m. Tuesday at Bridgeport City Hall and continue through 5 p.m. This follows President Donald Trump approving individual assistance to residents of Harrison, Fayette, and Kanawha counties following the flooding in mid-August.

The center will be open to all Harrison County residents, not just those within Bridgeport, to offer in-person assistance from FEMA representatives. After the 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. first day, the center’s Monday-through-Saturday hours will be 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Bridgeport Emergency Management Director Tim Curry encouraged everyone affected by the flooding to fill out an application at the center.

“When applying, residents should have their address and ZIP code, information about the condition of their damaged home, insurance information if available, Social Security number, a telephone number where they can be reached, and a mailing or email address available,” Curry said in a release. “Those who have already applied should keep their FEMA registration number available whenever contacting FEMA.”

Affected residents can also submit applications online at at DisasterAssistance.gov, through the FEMA app, or on the phone by calling 800-621-3362.
