Rip brother. Prayers from all us Kentucky coal miners. Long live coal

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Lambka family and friends, and also with the Mettiki Family. This is a very sad time for both. My husband works at Mettiki and has been there for 33 years. He started working for Mettiki when he was just 19 yrs. old. Anytime something like this occurs it is devastating and touches the hearts of coal miners everywhere.

article says he was 20...but says he had more then 4 years of mining experience..hmmmm...that would make him 15 or so when he started..

    * I believe the report is wrong, I believe Dan had 2.5 years experience and 4 mos at this mine..... Either way???? He was a qualified miner who lost his young life underground. Should of never happened!

Prayers go out to his family. It dont matter what age he was its a life ended way to short. Just like military men that die in the line of duty.

Who cares how many years experience he had. We should be focused on how hard of a worker he was and that his life was taken at such a young age.He was a good guy and had so much to live for. So sad. Prayers for his family

Some people are ignorant who cares determining if he was 16 18 45 etc.... The point is he left family and a girlfriend/fiancé behind because of a tragic accident. So we should be honoring is heart and passion to be a coal miner not determine what age. And besides this topic could go on forever so what if he began working a 16 that should prove he's a hard working kid! Prayers to the families

A young man is dead and the topic of conversation is how many years of work experience he had? How about focusing on the 20 years life experience he had and the 60+ he won't get to have.

      I agree 100%

Absolutely right! Prayers for this young Mans family and co-workers. It's sad that the world is narrowing itself around money and not safety and respect for the human race. I pray that the ones I love stay safe from any harm underground and traveling to the mines .

Does it matter if he had 4 years or not? The poor kid was killed. Prayers for his family and friends.

So sad for the family of this young guy.
Daniel graduated at 17, and probably began working there upon graduating. That would give him 3.5 yrs. experience. Maybe he had 4 yrs. experience because he worked there as a summer job during high school? They have internships, trainings, etc. that can be counted as experience, also.

Thank you for saying this! u r right!

As a friend of Daniel this report is correct. He graduated in 2011 and who have been 21 in May! Such a tragic story for such a small coal town! Fly high Daniel, you will be missed
