Morgantown police search Mon River for Harrison Co. man

Steven Tomasic, 35 of Lost Creek, had not been seen since Thursday, April 28. He was reported missing Monday, May 2.

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — A missing persons report prompted a search of the Monongahela River from the waterfront amphitheater to Star City.

According to Morgantown police, Steven Joseph Tomasic, 35 of Lost Creek, was last seen Thursday, April 28 walking across the Westover Bridge.

There are reports he jumped in the river and attempted to swim to Westover.

Before noon Monday, the Morgantown Underwater Search and Recovery Team started patrolling the river with Side-scan SONAR. Kayakers were conducting searches of the river bank.

Tomasic is a white man, 5’7″ tall, who weighs approximately 140 pounds.
